Aerial Mapping

Make accurate site maps

Our maps provide accurate 3d digital models of the earth’s surface. This enables clients to extract valuable data including measurements, volumes, and elevations as well as producing a digital rendering and orthomosaic.

Data capture

The data capture can all be pre-planned before arrival on-site, meaning minimal time in the air. Using automated flight plans we can capture the entire area in a matter of minutes from all the required angles.

Build it

Using powerful photogrammetry software the data can be processed and a map produced. This gives a 3d model which can be navigated and provide measurements of distance and volume of objects on the ground. Ideal for site monitoring or planning. This data can then be viewed or exported into mutiple programs such as CAD or GIS software.

Accuracy

All out maps are produced as accurately as possible depending on client needs. Photogrammetry is an extremely accurate science. Surveyed ground control points can be incorporated into the data to ensure accuracy and provide a relative accuracy within the site of 1-2cm. All surveys are provided with quality reports and accuracy evaluations.

Applications

Site and location planning

  • Plan out space on your site.

  • Plan storage for equipment and materials.

  • Capture sites for a record during construction or show progress to clients.

  • Corridor mapping for pipeline, road and rail construction.

Land surveying

  • Get accurate data for initial construction planning.

  • Provide detailed images of land and locate features

  • Measure land areas

  • Capture and record historic or delicate sites remotely without causing damage.

  • Survey pipeline routes

Scene captures

  • Capture a permanent accurate copy of a scene which allows measurements and inspection after the event. For example, accidents and crashes.

Volumetric measurements

  • Measure stockpile volumes cut and fill volumes etc to aid in planning and resource allocations.

Elevation maps

  • Calculate drainage paths

  • Visualise the contours of the land

Urban and infrastructure mapping

  • Capture data in the urban environment such as buildings, plant and machinery.

  • Map communications towers.

  • Map solar farms and wind turbines for inspection.

  • Provide mapping for mining operations

Coastal environments

  • Map cliffs and coastal erosion

  • Assess erosion over time

  • Map out marinas and boat yards

The point cloud

The result is an accurate digital version of the real-world scene, this enables engineers and planners to gain valuable information about a site from a remote location. They are able to measure distance, area and volume from the 3D rendering quicker and easier than taking measurements on the ground. With your 3D models completed, you can examine scaled, fully detailed scenes. Imagine studying these scenes and models from literally all angles from the convenience of your computer. That’s the power of photogrammetry.

What is photogrammetry?

Photogrammetry is the science of taking measurements from photographs. This is achieved by taking multiple photos from different angles and combining them along with detailed information about the position and angle of the camera. The photographs are processed by powerful software that matches tens of thousands of points in each image to produce a detailed 3D point cloud.

The output

Not only can the 3D model be produced but also an orthomosaic. An orthomosaic differs from an aerial photo as the output is not simply a ‘stitched’ photo. Each point is accurately located and processed to produce the orthomsaic, meaning it is an accurate scale representation without any lens distortion and enabling accurate measurements to be taken.

Other outputs are digital surface models, digital terrain models, contour lines and .kml files which can be viewed as a high resolution up to date layer in Google earth pro.
